How Can You Tell If You Have a Gas Leak?
The signs of a gas leak are relatively easy to identify, as long as you know where to look:
The smell of rotten eggs
Natural gas is odorless, but trace amounts of mercaptan are added to the natural gas to make it smell like rotten eggs or sulfur, so you can quickly identify a leak.
You can hear hissing sounds
If your gas line is leaking, you will likely be able to hear a faint hissing sound close to the source of the leak.
The grass or plants in your yard are dying
If all of the vegetation in your yard is dying in a particular area despite all your best efforts, then the cause may be a damaged gas line nearby which is leaking near your plants.
